Absolutely Wonderful

Wayfaring

Custom Google Maps. This site will let you put your own custom tabs on Google Maps for your personal use.
Wayfaring

Well…now we have online direct file sharing that is the answer. Check out these two guys below, they are the best I’ve found so far.

Dropsend
pando

Finally, you can now send very large files over the net without having to do anything utterly complicated and time consuming. Both let you send up to one Gigabyte…just lovely!

Hooja

Hooja:
Hooja’s free service allows people to use their mobile phone to capture information on the go and save it in a central online account they can access any time.

Users can easily act on this online data; get directions to any saved store, museum or restaurant; use hyperlinks to get more details or reviews about a product or a service; or share information with friends instantly.

Zync

Zync:
Zync is similar to Google Maps except it has a much larger business database to search through, it even has events and other venues.

On top of that Zync also recommends restaurants, events, venues to you based on your preferences it picks up from your activity on the site.

blist - Your Personal Database

Have you ever wanted to organize your stuff in some sort of database but hate dealing with those old nasty to use programs like Access? Do you want this database to be securely accessible from any computer?

blist

Well, blist is probably MORE functional than Access, AND Incredibly easy and intuitive to use, did I also mention it’s FREE!. This is amazing to organize your personal stuff with, give it a try! It’s all online too, so that means you can access it wherever you want!

It works a lot like the crafty Google search I have on the right side of this page, but it doesn’t make you filter through a ton of web results.

Visit Gimado Now

Instead, Gimado just links the files directly from the , and even lets you listen to them before you download them, to make sure you are getting the correct file. Give it a try with your favorite artist and see how you like it.

EverNote

EverNote:
This is probably the single best note taking, storing, and searching program I have ever seen. If you scan in your handwritten notes from class, this thing can decipher your handwriting and make the document searchable!
AMAZING!

It’s great for notes in general though too. It’s free, almost everyone, I believe, qualifies for the beta invitation, so go ahead and get started with this thing, it’s really good, I don’t know how much more I can emphasize that ha!

Twine

Twine:
This thing is great, but you have to qualify for the Beta version. The description below from the site is the best summary.

Twine is a new service that intelligently helps you share, organize and find information with people you trust.

Share more productively. In Twine you can safely share information and knowledge, and collaborate around common interests, activities and goals. Twine helps you better leverage and contribute to the collective intelligence of your network. Use Twine to share more productively with friends, colleagues, groups and teams.

Get more organized. Twine provides one place to tie everything together: emails, bookmarks, documents, contacts, photos, videos, product info, data records, and more. And, because Twine actually understands the meaning of any information you add in, it helps you organize all your stuff automatically. Finally, you can search and browse everything and everyone you know, about anything, in one convenient place.

Find and be found. You are like a snowflake – you are totally one-of-a-kind. Twine recognizes what makes you special: your unique interests, personality, knowledge and relationships, to help you find and discover things, and be found by others, more relevantly.

Thunderbird Email Client

Thunderbird Email Client:
While this isn’t as new as most stuff I mention, I think it’s still relatively unknown. I’m really not a fan of Mozilla Firefox (preference wise, probably from using IE since I literally first got on the Internet in my grade school years) but I have never liked the Microsoft email client Outlook.

That’s where Thunderbird comes in. I love the feel of Thunderbird, I love the highly customizable look through the virtually unlimited templates you can download for free, it’s just an overall better email client in my opinion.

Since Google’s Gmail now has the capability of doing IMAP service (technical jumbo for remote server email hosting through a user based email client, I believe) it’s easier than ever to use an email client for Gmail.

Tired of Myspace?

Yeah, so am I. Well there’s a relatively new social network called Virb. It’s a whole lot better in the sense there’s not clutter laying around everywhere like a Myspace.

You can fully customize your page even if you’re rather unfamiliar with CSS. It’s still growing but there is a good amount of members already, and it’s growing from what I see. So check it out today, Virb.

Search Google Maps business listings from any phone!

Dialing 1-800-GOOG-411 will bring you to a voice guided search of local businesses from whatever city you instruct it to!

Goto the offical GOOG-411 site

A no-charge 411 service by Google…What a wonderful idea.

Publish your documents online?

Now you can put all your documents online with a new kind of website genre oriented towards publishing. Sites like

Scribd
and Issuu

are a few good ones. Check em’ out, they can be pretty useful.

Orbit - Rich Media Downloader

Orbit - Rich Media Downloader:

Orbit allows you to directly download every kind of embedded media (.flv, .wmv, .mpg, .mp3, .wav, .avi, etc.) and save it directly to your hard drive.

I’ve grown really accustomed to this, believe it…it makes life a lot easier.

You may need to download a Flash Video Player (like FLV Player) to play those You Tube videos you snatch up. If you’re just looking to get the music out of the video try an audio extractor (like AoA Audio Extractor).
